Dioniso e la corona di luce. Iconografia e immaginario della figura di Dioniso nimbato

Abstract

In this paper I would like to propose a re-reading experiment of the iconography of Dionysos with halo, through a description of the images repertoire of nimbated god and with an examination of the main thematics and narrative contexts in which Dionysos is depicted with nimbus. Furthermore I would like to dedicate space to examination of relationships between Dionysos and the light; the sidereal energy that compose the halo. The informations that will emerge from this study, could reevaluate the rare and mysterious iconography of Dionysos with halo, which, unfortunately, it has been underestimated by contemporary scholars.
