In the ancient world, the symbolic importance of boundaries and city gates is acknowledged. In the Greek, Roman and Etruscan worlds, these places have a central role because of their liminal nature subject to pollution. Aim of this paper is to show the main features connected with these crossing points through the analysis of related gods in the Greek, Roman and Etruscan worlds.
