Figurare la sospensione. Iconografia di un gesto nelle pitture pompeiane

Abstract

The aim of the research is to understand the possible different meanings hidden behind the iconographic gesture of placing the hand close to the mouth. The study deals whit Pompeian wall painting and considers all the occurrences included in this specific temporal context. After a brief introduction, it will be also taken in exam what kind of feeling this movement of the hands is about to express, whit parallels between Roman and Greek art.
