Capitolium fulgens: osservazioni sul colle capitolino fra storia, archeologia e letteratura

Abstract

This paper uses literature, archaeological evidences and epigraphy to analyse the role of Capitol hill for Roman history from the building of the temple of Juppiter to the end of empire with brief overview to Middle and Modern ages. We will focus on its functions and on the symbolic value for religion, civic life, politics, arts. In other words, a place which despite destructions represented through the centuries a locus memoriae for Roman identity.
